As discussions continue about how St. Ignatius College Preparatory and the Outer Sunset Farmers Market and Mercantile can co-exist on a shared space, the Sunset Beacon offered each party an opportunity to share with the community their side of the issue
In response to St. Ignatius’ request to entirely cancel 3 Sunday markets and reduce another 7 Sunday markets to 1 block, I must point out the catastrophic impact this request will have on the sustainability of the Outer Sunset Farmers Market & Mercantile, as well as the livelihood of the 70-90 farmers, small businesses and organizations in attendance on a given Sunday and the community who have come to depend on the market.

Sunset Mercantile, local producers of community based pop-up marketplaces announced the relaunch of the Wednesday afternoon Outer Sunset Farmers Market & Mercantile 4pm-7:30pm on 37th Avenue between Ortega and Pacheco featuring farm fresh produce, unique artisan foods, delicious pop-up eateries, talented makers, local merchants, live music and an extensive Fun Zone for all ages.
Every Sunday, William Fenimore bakes more than 100 loaves of bread in his kitchen. He wakes up before the sun rises and is out the door by 8 a.m. His stand at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market sells out on a weekly basis.
