The City needs an adult in the room to apply tough love to radically improve conditions for both the unhoused and the housed. We treat stray dogs better than the conditions I see many unhoused people living in on our streets.
A broad coalition of community groups led by Richmond District Rising (RDR) has teamed up for a drive to collect and deliver clothing and supplies to the neighborhood’s homeless. The drive’s organizers also hope to raise awareness about the vulnerability of our unhoused neighbors, especially during the winter months.
No group has been harder hit by COVID-19 than the homeless. As many as two-thirds of those previously housed in San Francisco shelters have been turned away to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
Katherine Fu and Amy Sullivan, two juniors at Lowell High School, are partnering with Happy Moose Juice to provide better hygiene and nutrition to San Francisco’s homeless population during COVID-19.

I’m a resident of the Sunset District. I just read the article in the Sunset Beacon. I think creating homeless shelters in the parks, Golden Gate in particular, will be a big mistake.
