I’m so dismayed to see that the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department is now organizing the marijuana festival for this Saturday 4/20 “to celebrate all things cannabis” (to quote your on-line announcement of the event).

On Sunday, April 14, 2019, 15-year-old world champion Maxine McCormick demonstrated her technique to local children and adults at Golden Gate Park’s Anglers’ Lodge and Casting Pools.
Maxine McCormick, now 15, started learning to cast and fly fish when she was 9 years old. At age 12, she became the youngest adult division gold medalist and world champion in the sports history.
The Garden Bookstore, located just inside the main gate in the Botanical Garden in Golden Park, offers residents and visitors a wide range of books, gifts and plants to help visitors explore the world of gardening and horticulture.

This photograph, circa 1907, shows Sweeney’s observatory on the top of Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park after it was destroyed by the massive earthquake that hit the City in April, 1906. The observatory was constructed as a part of the 1894 Mid-winter Exposition that was held in the park. Strawberry Hill, located in the middle of Stow Lake, is the tallest point in the park.
