Organizers of Golden Gate Park’s 150th anniversary celebration announced today that a parkwide birthday event on Saturday, April 4, 2020 is being rescheduled for a date later this year.
Despite opposition from conservationists, the eastern end of Golden Gate Park’s Music concourse will host a 150-foot-tall Ferris wheel over the next year as the city celebrates the park’s 150th birthday.
March 14 is Opening Day, the first day of the model boating season at Spreckels Lake in Golden Gate Park. This event includes the Ragtop/Stinkpot Relay Regatta, a friendly relay competition that cleverly includes skippers and boats from the Power Squadron, R/C Sail Squadron, and Freesail Squadron. The Opening Day regatta will begin about 1 p.m. on the south side of Spreckels Lake.
The Golden Gate Park 150th Anniversary quilt display will take place in Robin Williams Meadow, along Bowling Green Drive, and in the National AIDS Memorial Grove.
