Thankful for Good Health
By Michael Durand
I hated to miss last month’s Meet the Editor session at the One Richmond office.
I really enjoy talking with readers of the Richmond Review and look forward to meeting new people at the event. Unfortunately, I needed to cancel the October meeting. I caught COVID!
Luckily, my coronavirus case was very mild. I credit the scientists and healthcare professionals who gave me my two vaccinations and two booster shots. I believe that really protected me from serious illness.
It is heartbreaking to hear about the more than a million people in the United States who lost their lives to the virus and, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the nearly 6.5 million people around the world who died from the disease. I count myself as very, very lucky.
Now that I’m back in great health, I look forward to the next Meet the Editor session. The kind folks at One Richmond have welcomed me and our guests into their storefront at 802 Clement St. on the second Wednesday of the month from 1-2:30 p.m. Appointments aren’t required, but they can be helpful when multiple people stop by to talk. Just send me an email at the address below and I’ll make sure I’m available for your visit.
The Announcements Section
We used to run classified ads and a calendar of events in the Richmond Review. I combined the content of those columns and created the Announcements section.
A popular feature is the birthday list. It’s free (and we don’t list dates or ages), so feel free to send in names and the birthday month and we’ll add your name to the list. Most people love seeing their name in the neighborhood newspaper, especially kids.
The Announcements section is a great alternative for businesses who can’t afford to place display advertisements (even though our rates are low!). A paragraph in the section costs just $1 per word, 20-word minimum. It’s also a great way to publicize your event, garage sale, fundraiser or any other activity that has a limited budget.
We also offer free ads in the Announcements section for local businesses to announce an anniversary for the business or employee, or other notable milestones. one of our main missions is to support local merchants. Contact me at the email address below to submit an entry.
Happy Thanksgiving
My sincere wish is that readers of the Richmond Review and your friends and family have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I think every day about how much I have to be grateful for: my restored health, my loving family and friends, that I get to live in this fabulous city and that I have have the honor to produce this newspaper every month. Thank you loyal readers.
Extra special thanks to the generous readers who provided financial support for this newspaper. We appreciate you!
Happy Thanksgiving!
