For my late mom, I volunteer for the SF Alzheimer’s Walk on Nov. 5 at Pier 27 to raise awareness of dementia and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association research projects and support services, like the 24/7 hotline in 200 languages. I hope people will join me in the effort to #Walk2EndAlz by supporting the Walk http://act.alz.org/sanfrancisco and legislation to help #ENDALZ
By the time my mom was finally diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she was no longer able to have input on her care. That is why I know how important it is for Congress to reauthorize the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA). It helped to increase research funding and has improved the quality of care and support services to people living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. This would have helped my family, so I urge San Franciscans to help the 1 in 5 Californians over 65 that are expected to develop dementia and ask Speaker Pelosi, Sen. Feinstein and Sen. Padilla to support the Reauthorization of NAPA at https://p2a.co/ZvqFmar.
