From Coach Thomas Mora on George Washington High School baseball winning the city championship:
Lowell is a great team and a very well coached team. Lowell played very well, but Washington did not give up after our rough start. Washington played their best baseball of the year and executed perfectly. I am happy for all our players and coaches. We would not be here if it were not for all of the hard work everyone put in. I am humbled to be a part of the team that broke Lowell’s dominance in our league. Everyone at Washington deserves this trophy and I am happy to call our team champions.
Notable league awards for Washington players:
Pitcher of the Year – Devon Benningfield
1st Team All City – Devon Benningfield, Kayne Moody, Tate Lemmer, and Joaquin Ruiz
2nd Team All City – Joaquin Armas, Ethan Levenson, Jaret Lee, Will Lam
Honorable Mentions – Omar Anderson, Bora Aymakoglu, Ryan Lo, James Mertz.
