Press release from SF Supervisor Gordon Mar. May 21, 2022:

I hope you can join us to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month with the launch of the Sunset Chinese Cultural District (SCCD) this Sunday, May 22nd at the Outer Sunset Farmer’s Market and Mercantile!

As the City’s ninth official cultural heritage district and the first one on the westside, the SCCD was created to preserve the authenticity and cultural richness of this historic community of working class families, seniors and small businesses as well as enhance the cultural assets and unique character of the Sunset overall.

There will be lion dancers, performances and speakers in addition to the farmer’s market musicians, kid zone activities and awesome vendors! We hope you come out to celebrate with us!

And, on May 26th, please join us for a virtual town hall on the Sunset Forward community planning process. The Planning Department and District 4 Youth and Families Network will present a summary of the community’s ideas and priorities for addressing housing, small businesses and commercial corridors and neighborhood services in the Sunset. Cantonese interpretation will be provided.
