Vandalism: 200 Block of Judah Street, March 30, 3:27, a.m.

A witness reported suspects attempting to break into a car. While still on the call to 911, the witness stated the suspects had left the scene.

Responding officers determined that the victim’s car had been damaged, but entry had not been successfully made. 

About an hour afterward, the witness called again and reported that the suspects had returned.

The responding officers attempted to detain and arrest the suspects, but they immediately fled. 

The officers did not pursue the suspects due to their reckless and dangerous driving. 

Vandalism: Judah Street and 48th Avenue, March 30, 11:12 p.m. 

The victim, a Muni driver, reported that the vehicle had reached the end of its route and instructed the suspect to exit the LRV. 

A witness stated that the suspect responded by raising his skateboard as if to strike the victim with it. The victim instructed the suspect to again leave the LRV. 

The suspect exited then struck the glass doors of the LRV with his skateboard before immediately fleeing the scene. 

Responding officers located the suspect and detained them, despite an attempt to flee from the officers. 

After further investigation, the suspect was arrested. 

Robbery of a Residence: 2600 Block of 36th Avenue, April 4, 10:58 a.m. 

The victim reported that she had been home watching television when she heard the doorbell ring but did not see anyone outside.

 Shortly afterward, the victim stated that she heard noises from downstairs before the suspects came up the stairs while pointing guns at her. 

 The suspects then searched the house and fled in a waiting car with the victim’s property. 

Carjacking: 600 Block of Lincoln Way, April 4, 8:49 a.m. 

The victim reported that he had met and spent some time with an acquaintance, the suspect, before they went to get gas for the victim’s car for a trip to Santa Cruz. 

 The suspect then pointed a gun at the victim and took the victim’s vehicle. Several hours later, the stolen car was located by the Santa Cruz Police Department.

Battery: Irving Street and 24th Avenue, April 4, 8:42 p.m.

The victim reported that she had been using an ATM when the suspect, who was nearby, started yelling incoherent statements. 

 The victim fearfully attempted to distance herself, but the suspect followed her and pushed her to the ground. 

 Several bystanders yelled at the suspect who then fled the area without further incident. 

Trespassing: 1400 Block of 48th Avenue, April 5, 12:15 p.m.

The victim reported that she had confronted the suspect, who had trespassed onto her property and used the victim’s water. 

The victim confronted the suspect and told her that she was trespassing. 

The suspect responded angrily and threatened to bomb the victim’s place before leaving. 

Traffic Collision: 3400 Block of Taraval Street, April 6, 3:49 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision. 

Responding officers made contact with the driver and a computer check revealed that they were driving without a driver’s license.

The driver was cited.

Burglary of a Store: 1900 Block of 19th Avenue, April 6, 5 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary at a business. 

Responding officers arrived at the location and observed the suspects standing in front of the business, which had sustained damage to the door. 

The suspects immediately fled when the officers’ arrived. The first suspect attempted to hide in the corner of a nearby backyard but was located and detained. The second suspect was not located. 

After further investigation, the first suspect was arrested. 

Assault: 1300 Block of 48th Avenue, April 7, 12:19 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of an assault and located the victim, who had blood on his face. 

The witness reported that they had been helping a customer and had heard an argument coming from outside. Shortly after, the witness looked outside and saw the victim lying on the ground. The victim, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, stated that they had been at a bar with the suspect who was an unknown friend. 

The victim stated that he did not know what had happened and did not know how his face got injured. 

Threats, Outstanding Warrant: 3600 Block of Taraval Street, April 8, 8:28 p.m. 

The victim reported that the suspect had made threats against them.

 The suspect, who was known to have multiple outstanding arrest warrants, was located and arrested for the threats and warrants. 

Assault: 800 Block of Taraval Street, April 9, 1:34 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a person with a gun. The victims reported that they had been outside smoking when a group of people came out of a nearby business. 

The victims told the group that they were about to walk in a puddle of vomit and the suspect responded that they did not like being told what to do. The suspect then retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and used it to strike one of the victims in the face. 

The suspect then fled the area. 

Traffic Violation: Noriega Street and 35th Avenue, April 12, 10:23 a.m.

A Taraval officer observed a vehicle without a front license plate and a tennis ball that was placed on a tow hitch, blocking the rear license plate. 

A computer check revealed that the driver was driving with an expired license. The driver was cited.

Battery: Judah Street and 22nd Avenue, April 12, 2:09 a.m.

The victim, a Muni driver, reported that the suspect had boarded the bus and starting smoking with another passenger. 

The victim stopped the bus and called for a Muni inspector. The suspect then walked up to the victim and punched him twice in the face. The suspect then punched the officer in the face as well. 

The suspect was detained and arrested without further incident. 

Robbery: 1300 Block of 28th Avenue, April 17, 3:55 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery. 

The victim reported that he had met the suspect through a dating app and had invited the suspect into his house. 

Shortly after, the suspect went to their car and returned with a second person and a gun. 

The suspect then stole property from the victim’s residence before the suspect and the second person fled the area. 

Battery: Irving Street and 17th Avenue, April 18, 7:44 p.m.

The victim reported that he was driving when the suspect honked at him. The victim pulled over and the suspect walked up to the victim before punching the victim’s face and returning to his vehicle.

The victim followed the suspect’s vehicle a short while before the suspect pulled over. The victim attempted to record the suspect, who then approached the victim a second time and pepper-sprayed the victim, causing pain and injury.

The suspect left the scene.

Evading a Police Officer: 20th Avenue and Kirkham Street, April 23, 11:49 p.m. 

Officers were on patrol when they observed a vehicle traveling dangerously at a high rate of speed while failing to stop at posted stop signs. 

The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued to flee and ignore stop signs. 

The officers did not pursue the vehicle due to public safety.  

Robbery: Ninth Avenue and Judah Street, April 27, 5:46 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a robbery. 

The victim said the suspect had cornered him and prevented him from leaving before the suspect stole the victim’s property.
