Letter to the Editor: New Book has Sunset District Roots

Editor:

I just wanted to let you know about a new book which will be available by May 1, 2022.

“The Ambassador of 38th Avenue” is a collection of life lessons I learned throughout my life, beginning in the Sunset District (38th & Vicente). In the book, I mention Sunset Boulevard, South and West Sunset Playgrounds, St. Gabriel School, the zoo, Ocean Beach, St. Ignatius College Prep, the sand dunes (prior to SI being constructed in the late ’60s), Silver Tree Day Camp, Golden Gate Park, and other locations familiar to those who grew up in or currently live in the Sunset District.

Born in 1954, I lived on 38th Avenue until I graduated from S.I. in 1972, at which time I moved to the South Bay. My mother owned her home on 38th until 2014. I still get up to The City fairly regularly to visit friends and to enjoy a little ocean therapy.

I hope this might be of interest to your readers.
