Police Blotter: Sunset District

Theft: Sunset Boulevard and Irving Street, Nov. 8, 3:31 p.m.

The victim reported that he was driving when the suspect, who was riding on a moped, cut him off. 

The victim stated that he honked at the suspect, who then slowed down and reached into the victim’s car window and took the victim’s cell phone. The suspect then fled with the phone before tossing it away. 

The phone was later located and given back to the victim.  

Battery: 46th Avenue and Judah Street, Nov. 9, 12:26 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a battery. The victim reported that she had just boarded a Muni bus and sat down in the seats at the center of the bus when the suspect walked towards her and threw beer at her from an open container. The suspect then walked away. 

Robbery, Outstanding Warrant: 2300 Block of Noriega Street, Nov. 10, 8:42 a.m.

The witness reported that the suspect, a known shoplifter, entered the store and selected multiple items of merchandise before immediately walking out and not paying for them. 

A witness approached the suspect and the suspect responded by brandishing a knife at the witness before continuing to leave the area. 

Responding officers located the suspect. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.  

Robbery with a Gun, Battery: 1300 Block of 47th Avenue, Nov. 10, 3:30 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a home invasion. 

The victim reported that the suspect, who was a friend of one of the victim’s friends, had approached him and claimed that the victim had stolen some of the suspect’s money and clothing. The suspect then punched the victim several times before walking away. 

After the incident, the victim entered his apartment. The victim respond to a knock on his door a short time afterward. When the door was opened, suspect then entered the victim’s apartment while holding a gun and proceeded to steal numerous items from the victim before fleeing the area. 

Traffic Violation: 19th Avenue and Rivera Street, Nov. 15, 9:48 p.m.

Officers were on patrol when they            observed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop light. The officers conducted a traffic stop. 

A computer check on the driver revealed that he did not have a valid driver’s license. 

The driver was cited.

Battery: La Playa and Judah Streets, Nov. 18, 4:42 am

Officers responded to a report of a battery. 

The victim reported that he had been asleep on the sidewalk and was awakened by the suspect looking through his property. The victim confronted the suspect who responded by hitting the victim once with an aluminum pole that had been on the ground nearby. 

The suspect then fled the area.  

Trespassing, Battery: 1200 Block of La Playa Street, Nov. 18,  7:03 a.m.

The victim reported that the suspect had been observed trespassing onto a construction site and had attempted to break into a shipping container. The victim confronted the suspect, who responded by pushing the victim. 

Responding officers located the suspect and after further investigation, the suspect was cited.  

Assault: Judah Street and 16th Avenue, Nov. 18, 12:24 p.m.

The victim, a Muni driver, reported that the streetcar was stopped when the suspect approached the driver’s side window and climbed through. The suspect then attempted to press multiple buttons randomly on the control panel, punched the victim and broke off a windshield wiper. 

Responding officers located the suspect and, after further investigation, the suspect was cited. 

Assault: 1800 Block of Irving Street, Nov. 20, 11:14 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of an assault. 

The victim reported that he was standing on the sidewalk when he suddenly felt dizzy and fell. However, a witness reported to officers that the suspect pushed the victim, which caused him to fall and hit his head on the ground. 

Responding officers located the suspect. After further investigation, the suspect was arrested. 

Discharging a Firearm: 15th Avenue and Judah Street, Nov. 28, 1:53 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of two vehicles shooting at each other with guns while chasing after each other. 

Near the reported area, the officers also located two vehicles that had been involved in a hit and run but were unable to determine if they were related to the reported incident.  

Robbery: 19th Avenue and Kirkham Street, Nov. 28, 11:33 a.m.

The victim arrived at Taraval Station to reported that they had been driving and hit a vehicle that had been in front of her. The victim stated that they panicked and fled the scene of the accident. 

The victim stated that the second vehicle followed them and started shooting at them. The victim stopped her vehicle, and the suspect approached the victim and made the victim pay for the damages caused by the accident. 

The suspect then left without further incident.
