Attention: The rebel base is under attack. Repeat: The rebel base is under attack
By Paul Kozakiewicz
The Starship House, an eccentric creation of artist James T. Kirk that spills out onto 46th Avenue, features a house full of various types of arts and crafts. The front yard features a “rebel base,” à la Star Wars, and inside the house is a music studio, Bat Cave and a life-size replica of the bridge of the starship Enterprise from Star Trek.
Kirk created the Sunset spectacular at 2334 46th Ave., near Taraval Street, over the past 25 years as a spot where local residents and artists can meet and let serious concerns fade away. His “batmobile” is often parked in front of the house.

But his mother passed away recently and a probate judge will decide how to award her estate on Dec. 7. Kirk wants to keep the house but his two sisters want to sell it.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Kirk raise money to pay an attorney and court and loan costs to make a bid on the house. As of press time, some $13,000 out of a goal of $30,000 had been raised.
