Police Blotter: Sunset District

Stolen Vehicle: Lincoln Way and 39th Avenue, Sept. 2, 9:34 p.m.

Officers were on patrol in the area when they conducted a computer check on a vehicle, which revealed that it had been reported as stolen. The officers made contact with the suspect who was inside the vehicle and detained him. 

After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.

Assault: 2000 Block of 30th Avenue, Sept. 3, 6:09 p.m.

Officers returned to a location at which two suspects had been cited after an incident of battery earlier in the day. The victim reported that the suspect hit the victim with a pipe. 

After further investigation, the suspect was cited. 

Battery: 3700 Block of 19th Avenue, Sept. 5, 1:28 p.m.

The victim reported that the suspect walked in and asked for a key to an apartment. The victim denied the request because the suspect did not live on the property. The suspect responded by pushing the victim. 

Responding officers located the suspect and after further investigation, the suspect was cited.  

Assault: 43rd Avenue and Judah Street, Sept. 6, 1:40 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of an assault. 

The victim stated that he owed money to his friend but was unable to pay it back. The victim reported that his friend and the suspect drove up and confronted him before the suspect hit the victim with a metal object, which caused a laceration on the victim’s hand. The victim responded, in self-defense, by pepper spraying the suspect who then fled the area. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle, Outstanding Warrant: 1500 Block of 29th Avenue, Sept. 9, 9:41 a.m.

The victim reported that his vehicle was stolen by a known suspect, and that he had located the vehicle near the house of the suspect’s friend. 

Responding officers arrived at the location, made contact with and detained the suspect without incident. A computer check on the suspect revealed an outstanding warrant. 

The suspect was arrested.

Trespassing: Sept. 13, 1400 Block of 23rd Avenue, 10:09 a.m.

The victim stated that she entered her detached garage and observed that the door was suspiciously unlocked before discovering the suspect inside. 

The victim ran out of the garage and the suspect walked away from the building shortly afterwards. The victim reported that nothing was stolen from the garage.  

Vehicle Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Outstanding Warrant: 2300 Block of 19th Avenue, Sept. 15, 3:27 a.m.

The victim reported that she was working when she heard her car alarm go off and observed the suspect taking items from her vehicle. 

Responding officers were directed to the suspect, who was sitting at a nearby Muni stop, and detained him. 

After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.

Battery: 22nd Avenue and Santiago Street, Sept. 16, 4:33 p.m.

The victim arrived at Taraval Station to report a fight with the suspect, the victim’s classmate. The victim stated that during the fight, the suspect punched the victim’s head while several other classmates filmed the incident.  

Trespassing: 4200 Block of Kirkham Street, Sept. 18, 1:16 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a trespasser. The victim reported that the suspect had entered the basement apartment while holding a pipe and yelling. 

Responding officers made contact with the suspect, who stated that they were the owner of the building. The victim declined to press charges.  

Battery: 1600 Block of 35th Avenue, Sept. 19, 10:21 p.m.

The victim reported that he had picked up and dropped off the suspect, who was intoxicated, at the requested location when the suspect declared that it was the wrong address. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s hand and attempted to drive off with the victim’s vehicle. 

After further investigation, the suspect was cited.  

Resisting Arrest, Outstanding Warrant: 2500 Block of 36th Avenue, Sept. 20, 5:04 a.m.

Officers responded to a 911 call which reported the sound of voices outside the caller’s house. 

Responding officers arrived at the location and made contact with the subject, who had been sleeping in front of the house’s driveway. A computer check revealed that the subject had an arrest warrant out of Belmont. 

The suspect was transported to the county jail, despite an attempt to flee during transport.

Shoplifting, Outstanding Warrant: 2000 Block of Irving Street, Sept. 20, 10:32 a.m.

The witness reported that the suspect was observed taking multiple items of store merchandise and not paying for them. Responding officers located the suspect and a computer check revealed an arrest warrant. 

The suspect was arrested.

Battery: 2100 Block of 24th Avenue, Sept. 21, 11:27 a.m.

The victim reported that they were in the school bathroom and talking when the two suspects walked in, disagreed with the victim’s discussion and started punching the victim. The school stated that they would start an internal investigation into the incident and noted that the victim’s parent requested to make a police report of the incident as well. 

Battery: 3200 Block of 20th Avenue, Sept. 25, 8:17 a.m.

The victim, an employee, stated that they had fulfilled an order and put a coffee down near the suspect. The suspect, who had paid for his coffee earlier, attempted to take the coffee. The victim told the suspect that it was not his order and was for someone else. The suspect became angry and punched the victim before walking away.  

Robbery: 37th Avenue and Ortega Street, Sept. 25, 2:15 p.m.

The victim, a volunteer working to collect signatures, reported that three suspects stood in front of his table and yelled at him before attempting to punch him. The suspects then took the victim’s property and threw it on the street. The victim stated that one of the suspects had a history of harassing several of the other volunteers as well.
