Press Release: Mid-Sunset Neighborhood Assoc. Live Community Meeting

From the Mid-Sunset Neighborhood Association:

On Wednesday, June 30, the non-profit Mid-Sunset Neighborhood Association will host its first live event.  Titled “Make Your Voice Heard,” the two-hour community meeting will focus on a controversial plan the City has to erect a 7-story apartment building on Irving Street.

The proposed building, spanning an entire block, would contain 100 apartments (with only 11 parking spaces) in an otherwise quiet residential neighborhood of 1- and 2-story houses, plunging its neighbors into deep shadow.   The project is plagued with unresolved problems related to financing, existing toxicity in the soil and surrounding, etc.

“Make Your Voice Heard” will feature expert speakers on various aspects of the project, such as density, financial problems, challenges of affordable housing and architectural appropriateness.  All attendees will have a chance both to ask questions and to voice their own opinions.

Community interest in this event is high, and a spirited discussion is anticipated.
