Press Release: SFFD Mourns the Passing of Firefighter Christopher G. Yock

San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) mourns the passing of Firefighter Christopher G. Yock.

With great sadness, we inform you of the death of Firefighter (FF) Christopher Yock. On Tuesday, June 8th, 2021, he passed away after fighting a large fire at the San Francisco International Airport parking structure.

Firefighter Yock has been a valued member of the SFFD since April 17, 2000. He worked as a firefighter most of his career at Station 10, serving the Richmond District of San Francisco, and transferred to Truck 48 as a dedicated member at the San Francisco International Airport in January of 2019.

On June 08, at 630 a.m., Firefighter Yock and numerous fellow firefighters responded to a significant fire at the San Francisco International Airport. Firefighter Yock and fellow firefighters worked hard to attack and extinguish the fire, which occurred on the 4th floor of a parking structure and involved over six vehicles. Unfortunately, after returning home from the incident, he suffered a medical emergency and passed away.

VIGIL AND CEREMONY OF LIFE INFORMATION VIGIL

DATE: Thursday, June 17, 2021.
TIME: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
LOCATION: The vigil will be held at St. Ignatius Church- 650 Parker Avenue, San Francisco

An Honor Salute by uniformed Public Servants, San Francisco Fire Department Members, and Retirees will follow the ceremonies.

For outside agencies, there will be no procession. Instead, we asked that uniformed members arrive at the vigil in class-A uniforms without apparatus.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

DATE: Friday, June 18, 2021
TIME: 1:00 p.m.
LOCATION: St. Ignatius Church- 650 Parker Avenue, San Francisco.

Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones, especially his teenage son. Thank you for your continued support as we mourn the loss of our beloved brother, Firefighter Christopher Yock. Rest in Peace, brother.
