Police Blotter: Sunset District

Stolen Motorcycle: 48th Avenue and Taraval Street, May 3, 4:55 a.m.

Officers were on patrol when they observed a subject pushing a motorcycle. 

The officers drove around the block and observed the same subject, who no longer had the motorcycle, quickly walking away from the officers. 

The officers detained the subject, located the motorcycle and made contact with the vehicle’s owner. The owner stated that he believed that the motorcycle had just recently been stolen. 

After further investigation, the subject was arrested.

Robbery of a Residence: 3400 Block of Moraga Street, May 3, 11:07 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a burglary. The witness reported seeing a suspect suspiciously running away from the house of an elderly adult. 

Officers arrived at the location and made contact with the victim who reported that he had been sitting in the living room when two suspects entered the room. 

The victim stated that he saw the suspects holding guns as they entered a bedroom. A short time later, both suspects exited the house and immediately fled the area.  

Outstanding Warrant: 1500 Block of 34th Avenue, May 5, 7:08 a.m.

Officers responded to a report that a suspect had been discovered sleeping in the victim’s vehicle. 

Officers located the suspect. A computer check revealed an outstanding arrest warrant out of Sacramento. 

The suspect was arrested.

Arson: 2900 Block of 21st Avenue, May 5, 2:55 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a fire, which was later extinguished by the SF Fire Department. 

After further investigation, it was reported that a gas can had been located next the house that had been on fire.

The suspect is still at large.

Theft from a Vehicle: 2000 Block of 48th Avenue, May 7, 7:41 a.m.

A report was filed that a suspect had been discovered inside the victim’s vehicle. The victim reported that he had returned to his vehicle and found the suspect sleeping inside it. There were indications that the interior of the vehicle had been rummaged through. 

While on the scene, a second victim reported that their vehicle had just recently been broken into as well. 

The suspect was located and detained. A search of the suspect’s backpack revealed stolen items belonging to the victims.

The suspect was arrested. 

Battery: Ulloa and Wawona streets, May 7, 6:20 p.m.

The victim, a fare inspector for Muni, reported that he had confronted the suspect for eating on the bus and not wearing a mask. 

The suspect responded by spitting at the victim. 

After further investigation, the suspect was cited.

Outstanding Warrant: 1300 Block of 20th Avenue, May 10, 1:35 p.m.

Officers received a warrant for the arrest of a suspect who had left his 5-year-old child unattended for several hours. 

The suspect was located and arrested without incident.  

Arson: 1200 Block of 20th Avenue, May 10, 12:57 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a known arson suspect who had a history of starting fires inside Golden Gate Park. 

The suspect was successfully located and arrested. 

Battery: 1300 Block of 43rd Avenue, May 12, 2:42 p.m.

The victim reported that he was watching an unoccupied vehicle that had been blocking his driveway when four suspects crossed the street and entered the vehicle. One of them asked if the victim had a problem. 

The victim responded that he did not and asked if the suspect had a problem. After an argument ensued between the victim and the first suspect, the other three suspects joined in and began to punch and kick the suspect. 

Shortly afterward, the suspects entered their vehicle and drove away from the victim. 

Robbery of a Residence: 2700 Block of 36th Avenue, May 14, 8:34 a.m.

The victim reported that he and his family had been downstairs in their home when they heard loud banging noises. 

The victim went to investigate and discovered that the suspect was upstairs holding a gun. The victim immediately locked a hallway door and his family called 911 for assistance. 

The suspect managed to exit the house and flee the area. 

Discharging a Firearm: 2800 Block of Noriega Street, May 16, 11:18 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots being fired. 

The witness reported that she had heard a vehicle quickly stop in front of a house and observed that there were two vehicles that were stopped nearby. 

The witness stated that the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles exited their car and walked towards the second vehicle. Then the witness heard several loud popping noises. The two suspects then ran back to their vehicle and drove away. 

The second vehicle also drove away shortly afterwards. 

Responding officers located several fired cartridges in the area but were unable to locate victims or damage relating to the incident. 

Assault: 700 Block of Taraval Street, May 19, 11:59 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of an assault with a gun. 

The victim reported that he had confronted the first suspect who had been selling illegal drugs to the victim’s wife. 

During the confrontation with the initial suspect, a second suspect produced a gun before both suspects fled the area in a vehicle. 

Battery: 1500 Block of Irving Street, May 22, 11:15 p.m.

 An employee and a patron of a restaurant reported that the suspect entered the restaurant and demanded that they quiet down and to turn the music down. 

One of the victims confronted the suspect who responded by punching the two victims. 

After further investigation, the suspect was cited.

Resisting Arrest, Embezzlement: La Playa and Judah streets, May 26, 3:58 p.m.

The victim reported to police that he had let the suspect use his cell phone to go online. The suspect suddenly walked away with it and got on a nearby Muni vehicle. 

Responding officers located and made contact with the suspect, who gave the officers a false name. 

After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.
