Press Release: Major Delays on 19th Avenue April 5-13

From: SF Department of Public Works/SFMTA

SCHEDULE CHANGE: SEE UPDATED PRESS RELEASE HERE

Major Traffic Delays Expected on 19th Avenue in San Francisco April 5-13 Due to Construction. Motorists Are Encouraged to Take Alternative Routes to Avoid the Works Zones

Beginning Monday, April 5, and continuing through April 13, 19th Avenue at the intersections of Noriega Street and at Kirkham Street will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Crews will work on the southbound lanes first and then move on to northbound lanes. Work will take place on the southbound lanes April 5-7 and on the northbound lanes April 8-12 at Kirkham and April 8-13 at Noriega.

This work will impact both northbound and southbound traffic, with expected delays of approximately 15 minutes from one end of 19th Avenue to the other. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.  See map below.

The temporary reduction in lanes is needed to ensure the safety of the construction crew, pedestrians, and motorists while sewer replacement work is performed at the two intersections. Traffic control officers will be onsite to safely direct vehicles and pedestrians through the two intersections. Motorists are advised to reduce driving speed approaching the project site. We thank you for your patience as we work to maintain and improve our critical City infrastructure.  For construction updates visit https://www.sfpublicworks.org/19th-Avenue.
