I’m glad to see everything that Supervisor Gordon Mar is doing to support seniors and small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including his outreach calls to seniors and his Town Hall on support for small businesses.
There is one group I’m afraid is being overlooked in the relief efforts: the five million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, their families, their caregivers, and the nonprofits that serve them.
I lost my mom to Alzheimer’s and I now volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association, so I see the tremendous strain the pandemic is having on this community.
Thankfully, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congress can help by including provisions to support the dementia community in the fourth economic relief package. Previous relief packages provided emergency loan programs for small, mid-size and big businesses and small nonprofits, but national nonprofits with more than 500 employees, like the Alzheimer’s Association, have also been greatly impacted by this pandemic.
Please join me in encouraging Speaker Pelosi to include expanded access to credit for nonprofits like the Alzheimer’s Association in the fourth COVID-19 pandemic relief package.
