Editor:
Kudos to the Laurel Heights Improvement Association (LHIA) of San Francisco on their lawsuit against the City and County of San Francisco to stop their proposed plan to destroy 226 mature trees in the process of developing the site at 3333 California Street.
I fully agree with attorney Josh Klipp that action to control climate change is a top priority for our city, which has declared itself to be in a climate emergency. These trees, and all trees, play an important part in sequestering carbon. It is true that we have only about ten more years to control the destruction of our earth as we know it. We do not need more retail stores, and housing should be built in a design that does not require tree removal.
