Press Release from SFMTA:
Thank you for joining us at our open house last week, and for casting your vote on a preferred staging layout plan for Segment A’s work (SF Zoo to Sunset Boulevard). The votes have been tallied and by more than 50% of the votes, option B- retain more parking, is the winning vote. This plan will keep one lane southbound on lower Great Highway between Ulloa and Santiago and reroute northbound lane traffic through 48th Avenue for the two blocks between Ulloa and Santiago. Option B retains 80 parking spots for a net loss of 16 parking spaces on lower Great Highway.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has given heavy consideration to the Taraval Parkside community’s input and have heard the community’s feedback regarding the staging location for the entire duration of the L Taraval Improvement Project. As mentioned at the open house and community meeting, your vote was intended for Segment A only. For Segment B (Sunset Boulevard to West Portal), our Agency is happy to inform that we will look at different locations and will not use lower Great Highway for Segment B’s staging location.
We will return to the community and share identified locations that are viable through a series of community meetings from October to December 2019, before construction for Segment B starts.
We look forward to sharing the results with you and hope you can join us at our next meeting. Please stay tuned for more information to come.
