Editor’s Career Celebrated by SF Board of Supervisors

Paul Kozakiewicz, former publisher and editor of the Richmond Review and Sunset Beacon newspapers, was recognized by the SF Board of Supervisors for his 30-year career in local journalism. The honor was presented during a board meeting in City Hall on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.

Kozakiewicz, along with his wife, Sue, founded the papers three decades ago. Paul and his staff of writers and photographers have covered the west side of San Francisco since the early 1980s.

The award was co-presented by SF Supervisors Gordon Mar and Sandra Lee Fewer who represent most of the Sunset and Richmond districts, respectively.

The certificate of honor proclaims:

β€œIn recognition of your retirement, we applaud your dedication of over 30 years as co-founder and editor of the Richmond Review and the Sunset Beacon newspapers. Your publications provide a vital platform for neighborhood perspectives and foster stronger community connections on the west side of San Francisco. For your commitment to the freedom of the press, to local neighborhood news reporting and to the Sunset and Richmond districts, the Board of Supervisors of the City and County of San Francisco extends its highest commendation and honor.”
