Joe’s Ice Cream Celebrates 60 Years

Joe’s Ice Cream is preparing for our 60th Anniversary and we have a fun day planned.

The event is Saturday, April 13 starting at 11:30 a.m. at 5420 Geary Blvd.

Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer, who has been a terrific help to us in acquiring SF “Legacy Business” designation, will be in attendance.

As special treats, the first 100 people to attend the event will receive Joe’s goodie bags.
Also, all our customers can enjoy $2 Junior cones and $2.50 single cones all day as “thank you” to the community for all their support.
There will be special “Selfie-spots” where patrons can take photos with a giant ice cream cone as well as pose with friends old and new.

Joe’s is proud of our Richmond roots, providing sweet treats and homemade ice cream for over 60 years. We pride ourselves on keeping sweet family memories of many generations with our long-forgotten but classic flavors such as rum raisin, root beer swirl, black walnut, bubble gum, etc. We use terrific ingredients in our ice cream, including using fresh fruit in our recipes going back to the very first day that Joe’s opened its doors and brought more fun to the Richmond District.

We hope that we can celebrate our past and continue to share many more sweet memories together.

  1. Joe’s Ice Cream will always be a big part of me. From 1969-1979 I worked at Sullivan’s Sport Shop and made my daily visits for a cup of hot chocolate made by Ida Baum or enjoyed a handmade chocolate shake by Mike. Their two sons also worked there. Then in 1979 I purchased the Presidio Bicycle Shop and made daily visits to Aki & Mutsuhiko Murashige for a delicious grilled cheeseburger and scoop of Ice cream from their son Satsuki. I wish I could be there for the celebration but Happy 60th ( 17 years a patron). Always, David W. Urbiztondo
