Theft, Possession of Weapon: 31st Avenue and Judah Street, July 30, 11:36 a.m.

The suspect snatched a woman’s cell phone from her hand before running into a waiting vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Responding officers located the vehicle and detained the occupants.

A search of the vehicle located the victim’s stolen cell phone as well as a realistic-looking BB gun. The suspects were cited.

Discharging a Firearm: 32nd Avenue and Noriega Street, July 29, 2:21 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of shots being fired. A witness reported that the suspect had discharged multiple shots from a vehicle’s sunroof. The suspect’s vehicle then crashed into another vehicle.

The officers located the vehicle in question and detained the occupants. A search of the vehicle and surrounding area did not discover any weapons.

Despite the presence of several witnesses in the area, none were willing to talk to officers about the incident.

Vandalism, Carrying a Deadly Weapon: 3800 Block of Noriega Street, July 28,
12:52 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a suspect holding an ax. They located the suspect and ordered him to drop the weapon. The suspect complied and was placed in handcuffs without incident.

The suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, stated that someone tried to choke him when he entered a bar. The suspect returned home, retrieved the ax and waited outside the bar for the person to come out.

A victim reported that he had observed the suspect outside waving an ax and when he went to his vehicle, he discovered the suspect had vandalized it. A second victim also came forward and reported that the suspect had also vandalized their vehicle.

After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.

Speeding, Suspended Driver’s License: 19th Avenue and Winston Drive, July 26,
9:42 a.m.

Officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling at 50 mph in a 35 mph. zone. A computer check revealed that the driver had a suspended license.

The driver was cited.

Threats, Carrying Concealed Weapon: La Playa and Judah Streets, July 21, 10:49 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a suspect in possession of a knife and stick.

The victim reported that they were in a park when the suspect walked towards them and started stabbing a nearby tree with a large knife while threatening to do the same to the victims.

Another person walked past the suspect and the suspect immediately chased after the person.

Responding officers located the suspect, who stated that he had been sleeping under his blanket when an unknown person urinated on it. The suspect believed the person who urinated on his blanket was the victim’s friend.

After further investigation, the suspect was arrested.

 Robbery: 1600 Block of 25th Avenue, July 18, 9:37 p.m.

A victim reported to responding officers that he was walking home when two suspects suddenly approached and pushed him to the ground. The suspects took the property that the victim dropped after being pushed and immediately fled the area.

Outstanding Warrant Arrest: 1300 Block of Irving Street, July 16, 10:10 p.m.

A witness reported that the suspect was observed stealing money from a store’s tip jar.

The witness attempted to detain the suspect but the suspect fled.

Responding officers searched and located the suspect and the tip money that had been stolen. A computer check on the suspect revealed an outstanding arrest warrant. The witness declined to press charges against the suspect for stealing the tips, but the suspect was arrested for the outstanding warrant.

Robbery of a Store: 1200 Block of Taraval Street, July 15, 9:58 p.m.

 The witness, a store clerk, stated that a potential shoplifter was trying to steal medication that was stored in a locked display case. The witness observed the suspect attempting to steal the merchandise but the suspect brandished a knife and told the witness to back away.

The suspect then stole the merchandise and fled the scene.

Assault on a Police Officer, Theft from Vehicle, Reckless Evading: Martin Luther King Jr. and Hagiwara Tea Garden Drives, July 14, 7:08 p.m.

Officers observed two suspects in Golden Gate Park casing cars in the area of the Japanese Tea Garden. One of the suspects broke into a vehicle and took a backpack out.

When officers attempted to apprehend the suspects, they tried to flee. While fleeing, one suspect drove the vehicle at a high rate of speed and rammed into the officers’ vehicle to escape.

The vehicle sustained major damage but officers were not injured. The suspects fled at a high rate of speed while driving recklessly. They are still at large.

Outstanding Warrant, Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia, Methamphetamine Offense: 300 Block of West Portal Avenue, July 11, 5:52 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a battery.

The victim said the suspect ordered and ate a meal at the restaurant but did not pay the bill. When confronted about payment, the suspect punched the victim in the face.

During the officers’ interview with the victim, the suspect was observed walking nearby. The officers then detained the suspect and ran a computer check, which revealed an outstanding warrant for his arrest for burglary, shoplifting and drugs.

A search of the suspect discovered methamphetamine and a glass pipe in his pockets.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked.

Battery: 1700 Block of 44th Avenue, July 6, 1:20 p.m.

A victim came to the station to report a battery incident. The victim stated that a neighbor was outside yelling and screaming. The victim attempted to calm the suspect down but the suspect began to yell at the victim and a struggle ensued.

The victim reported that he sustained some injuries during the struggle.

Battery: 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard, July 5, 3:57 p.m.

 The victim said he had been involved in a hit-and-run vehicle collision earlier in the day. When the victim attempted to exchange information with the suspect, the suspect refused and offered the victim money and marijuana instead.

The victim refused the offer and attempted to take a picture of the suspect, which angered him. The suspect then punched the victim before getting back in his vehicle and fleeing the area.

Assault: 2700 Block of Vicente Street, July 4, 1:27 a.m.

The victim, an Uber driver, told responding officers that he picked up a passenger who appeared to be intoxicated, on Taraval Street and 20th Avenue.

Throughout the ride, the suspect asked the victim personal questions, which the victim refused to answer. When they arrived at the drop-off location, the suspect picked up a glass bottle of water and hit the victim in the face with it.

The suspect then got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

Attempted Robbery of a Residence: 3400 Block of Noriega Street, July 2, 8:06 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a person breaking into a house.

The victim reported that he had opened his garage door to retrieve a newspaper while the suspect was walking by. Suddenly, the suspect ran up to the garage door and attempted to push it open while demanding money from the victim.

When the victim responded that he did not have any money, the suspect picked up a chair and threatened the victim with it.

The victim again responded that he did not have any money. The suspect then put down the chair and walked to a waiting get-away vehicle.

Vehicle Hit and Run: Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, June 26, 5:50 a.m.

Golden Gate Park rangers located an unoccupied vehicle inside the Botanical Garden. It apparently crashed through the Garden’s north gate.

The driver fled the scene before officers arrived.

The vehicle was heavily damaged and smoking, so fire department units responded and extinguished the source of the smoke.
