Zion Lutheran Church presents Concerts at Zion: Century-Spanning Music for Classical Instruments, a concert series to raise money to support various local nonprofit organizations.
On June 8, Elevate Ensemble will perform at the Zion Church, located at Ninth Avenue and Anza Street, at 7:30 p.m., to benefit Zion’s partner, Interfaith Welcome: Bay Area Refugee Support, which will devote 100 percent of the concert proceeds to Jewish Family and Community Services East Bay (JFCS).
The JFCS helps resettle about 120 refugees a year locally. Its refugee welcome fund assists with housing costs that the government does not cover (the biggest need) and medical and translation services.
For more information about the work JFCS does for refugees, go to the website at https://jfcs-eastbay.org/refugee-resettlement.
Artistic director Chad Goodman founded Elevate Ensemble to offer audiences a unique way of experiencing the Bay Area’s vibrant music scene.
The ensemble features an evolving group of young virtuoso performers, playing the works of emerging composers along with great works of the previous centuries.
Suggested donations for the Zion concerts are $15 per person, or $25 per family. For more information, contact Kyle Hovatter at hovatterkyle@gmail.com or (650) 539-8757.
