Residential Burglaries Drop
By Capt. Robert Yick
On Monday, April 9, the SF Police Department (SFPD) announced that 10 of 30 identified residential burglars were arrested in connection with 60 residential burglaries, many of them in the Taraval, Ingleside and Bayview districts.
The serial burglary crew has stolen close to $3 million in currency, jewelry, passports and guns.
I would like to thank the SFPD’s burglary detail and the Special Investigative Team for its continued hard work. The results are dramatic.
In comparison to March, the April trend for residential burglaries is significantly down. We have not had the same issues as in the past with daytime hot prowl burglaries, but there are still late-night garage burglaries occurring in the district.
As a department, we recommend that you lock your garage doors at night and request that SF Awareness for Everyone (SFSAFE) be scheduled for a visit to evaluate the safety of your residence.
As a reminder, you are invited to attend monthly Taraval Police Station community meetings every third Tuesday of the month, from 6-7 p.m., at the station, located at 2345 24th Ave. There, you can hear crime updates and share any of your concerns.

Capt. Robert Yick is the commanding officer at the Taraval Police Station.
