The annual Pacific Orchid Exposition was held at the Hall of Flowers, located in Golden Gate Park, at the end of February. The theme for this year’s exposition was “Curiouser and Curiouser, Orchids in Wonderland,” which plays off the story of “Alice in Wonderland” and its Mad Hatter tea party. In the photo above, Andy Phillips of Andy’s Orchids, located in Encinitas, California,
displays Epidendrum Parkinsonianum and Epidendrum Falcatum at the exhibition. “I’ve been growing orchids since the age of seven, and opened my nursery in 1990. My goal is to offer exceptionally well-grown, established plants and to provide my customers with instructions for growing them successfully,” he said. Photo: John Oppenheimer.
