‘Doodlers’ visit Peabody School

On March 16, the Google Doodle Team visited George Peabody Elementary School in the Richmond District and surprised the students by revealing that a recently installed mural honoring the school’s namesake was designed and painted by Doodle artists (known as doodlers).

They also revealed that the school’s mural was serving as the “doodle of the day” across the Google homepage of 28 markets around the world to celebrate and honor the school’s namesake, George Peabody, who was the “father of philanthropy.”

“One of our primary goals for all Peabody students is that they gain a love of learning and curiosity for the world,” said Peabody Principal Willem Vroegh.

“Our teachers and staff work hard every day for students to acquire the skills and

knowledge they need to lead a successful life, become a productive citizen and develop

into a leader – all traits demonstrated by George Peabody himself.”
