Arnie Davis, the owner of Davis Foot Comfort Center (above), received a commendation from the city of San Francisco on Oct. 3 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his custom shoe store in the Sunset District. Since 1977, Davis has specialized in custom-made footwear and orthotic
devices. A certified podiatrist, he began his career as a sculptor and the creations Davis and his staff make can be seen in his shop. The Comfort Center, which is located at 3921 Judah St., makes shoes for people with various medical issues, including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and traumatic injuries.
