Golden Gate Park

West Side Emerges – Vintage Photo

This photograph, circa 1910, shows the SF Conservatory of Flowers, located in a classic
Victorian glass hothouse in Golden Gate Park. In the background is the Richmond District
and the beginning of the planting of the Presidio forest can be seen. The Marin
Headlands is in the far background, on the other side of the Golden Gate. The maintenance
building in the foreground was removed. Photo courtesy of private collector/Western Neighborhoods Project
