Assemblyman Phil Ting submitted legislation in Sacramento
on Feb. 15 that would change the speed limit on Golden Gate Park
roads from 25 miles-per-hour (m.p.h.) to 15 m.p.h. Only
Crossover Drive and Park Presidio Bypass would be exempt.
Ting claims the legislation is needed because some commuters
use the park, instead of city streets, to get to their destinations,
and because a slower speed would be safer for pedestrians
and bicyclists.
The legislation is tentatively scheduled for a committee hearing
on March 18.
