Assault, Public Drunkenness: Aug. 30, 2:51 a.m., 31st Avenue and Noriega
Street
Officers were called to a situation where two groups of people were poised for
a brawl. The officers separated the combatants, but one woman swung at a police
officer and missed. When asked how much alcohol she had consumed, the suspect
said "a lot." She was arrested. A second suspect was also arrested for being
drunk and resisting arrest.
Grafitti Offense: Aug. 23, 1:16 a.m., 1200 Block of Funston Avenue
Officers on patrol observed a man marking a wall with a graffiti tool. As they
approached the man, his colleagues started yelling "5-0," a term to alert criminals
that the police were on the scene. The suspect ran southbound on Funston, where
an officer captured him. The suspect was arrested for malicious mischief and
a misdemeanor warrant from the state of Nevada.
Drunk Driving: Aug. 14, 11:45 p.m., 41st Avenue and Pacheco Street
A woman driving a vehicle on 41st Avenue struck various vehicles and continued
driving erratically. A witness followed the woman and grabbed the keys from
her ignition when she stopped on Pacheco. Officers arriving on the scene detained
the driver, who was found to be highly intoxicated. She was transported to the
police station and booked.
Robbery: Aug. 8, 7:40 a.m., 20th Avenue and Lawton Street
A woman was walking when a 19-year-old female suspect approached from behind
and grabbed the woman's purse. During the struggle the victim fell to the ground,
injuring her knees. The suspect took the purse and began running towards 19th
Avenue. The victim screamed and passersby called 911. Numerous Taraval officers
raced to the scene and the suspect was spotted on 19th avenue, still carrying
the purse. After the suspect was detained, officers asked if the purse was hers.
"No, I took it from somebody," the suspect replied. The victim positively identified
the suspect, who lives in San Jose, and she was arrested.
Criminal Threats, Parole Violation: Aug. 8, 2:36 p.m., 1000 Block of Great
Highway
A man was walking his dog when the suspect started following them making inappropriate
comments. After the suspect threatened to shoot the man, he called police, who
detained the suspect. The suspect was wanted for a parole violation.
Parolee Arrest: Aug. 6, 7:50 a.m., 1300 Block of 12th Avenue
Police Department narcotics officers were in possession of a search warrant
for an address where a parolee lived. The officers announced their presence
but no one answered the door. When the officers forced entry, they heard a voice
call out "Oh s____!" The officers located one suspect in a bedroom and saw that
a door was open to an attic. A few minutes later a second suspect emerged from
the attic. The officers searched the premise and found suspected methamphetamine,
evidence linking the suspects to drug dealing and counterfeit money. One suspect,
who lives at the residence, was arrested for a no bail parole warrant, conspiracy
and narcotics charges. The second suspect, who lives on O'Farrell Street, was
arrested on narcotics charges.
Felony Assault, Criminal Threats: Aug. 5, 6:30 p.m., 40th Avenue and Vicente
Street
An off-duty San Francisco police officer observed a suspect in a verbal altercation
with a man, who was in the company of a six-year-old girl, his niece, who was
of a different race than the man. The suspect then started assaulting the man
about the face before knocking him to the ground and hurling racial epithets
at the girl. The off-duty officer, along with a witness, chased the suspect
and cornered him. On-duty officers responded to 911 calls and took custody of
the suspect. The victim was treated for a concussion, fractured sinus and other
facial injuries. The suspect, who lives on 22nd Avenue, was arrested.
Indecent Exposure, Parole Violation: Aug. 3, 9:36 a.m., 1300 Block of Great
Highway
Two officers on patrol were alerted to a naked man who was engaged in lewd behavior.
They located the man and discovered that he was on parole for serious crimes.
The resident of San Bruno was arrested.
Driving while Intoxicated, Open Alcohol Container, Speeding: Aug. 1, 1:32
a.m., 700 Block of Brotherhood Way
A driver who had reportedly been drinking booze at Dolores Park crashed into
a tree, trapping himself and two passengers. After freeing the three passengers
and tending to their wounds, the officers noticed the driver was clearly under
the influence of alcohol. He was booked at Taraval Station.
Possession of Marijuana, Suspended License: Aug. 1, 12:38 p.m., 20th Avenue
and Irving Street
A community policing officer on his bicycle observed a vehicle with a strong
odor of marijuana driving by. He stopped it and cited the driver for drug possession
and had the car towed.
